Sun
One of them pretty good days all round. Up early and out for a swim before coming home to make coffee and pancakes for everyone and then heading out in the afternoon for a bit of festival fun.
Today's fringe activity was a play at a 'secret seaside location' with transport provided, starting off at George Square and ending up at, well, I won't say, no spoilers here. The play was Holes, and one of the main reasons we went was because it starred Mat Baynton, one of the actors from Horrible Histories, who everyone in this house is a big fan of. I was quite surprised though when I made it into town to meet my partner, to find her sitting on a wall next to Kristin Hersh. And, as we then queued for the buses, I did have a bit of a chat with Kristin who was super-nice, and I don't think I embarrassed myself particularly even though I've been a big fan of hers for, let's just tot this up now...oh, the last 24 years since I first got into Throwing Muses in my student days back in the late 80s.
The play was really enjoyable, very funny with a dark edge and with simple but effective in-the-round staging. Nice to be somewhere different as well other than the usual festival venues. Went out for tea on our return into town and then had a stroll up The Royal Mile in the evening sunshine.
Best have a bit of music to finish, best have a bit of Kristin I reckon. One of my favourite Muses songs, and it's a bit of an odd one in the fact that it's a cover version, and an instrumental one at that. I always really loved this ever since I bought the 12". B-side.
