Dearbhla

Big swim in the morning to set me up for an afternoon/evening of festival stuff. Hard work trying to fit it in with all this sport going on but I tried my best. Tough life, I know, no sympathy please....

Had a ticket for a play at The Traverse that was a little disappointing, especially as I've really enjoyed writer Simon Stephen's other work. After a post-play pint and a bit of Olympics viewing on the big screen in Festival Square we decided to try and get returns for another play rather than heading over to the Queens Hall for the Withered Hand gig (theatre over music, what is my world coming to?) and it turned out to be completely the right decision. The play was this one and I won't say much about it to avoid any potential spoilers, but what I will say is that it was brilliantly performed by the cast of two, Bill Paterson and Dearbhla Molloy. And extremely moving and thought-provoking. Is that enough of a recommendation for you?

And, luckily, as I always finish this journal with a bit of music, there's a fabulous track from my old mate Nick that fits just perfectly.
