Whoop de Doo
I'm going to start by apologising for minimal comments at the moment, the time difference means I catch-up at funny times of the day so I'm reading blips and not always managing to comment as well. Thank you for your interest in what is going on here though. It's a week since I left home now, time flies!
I've got my room pretty well laid out now as I like it. When I'm here for a while I'm a bit picky so I tend to invest in some clean bedding and towels, they're not very expensive and I'll donate them when I leave.
The room doesn't have a shower, so I have what they call a bucket wash, basically I fill a large bucket with water and pour it over myself, using a jug. Thank goodness for shower gel and Pentland Aromatics sponges, they make life much easier. Sadly the water heater in the shower is playing up so I only have cold water at the moment - except nothing here is ever really cold so it's not too bad. Doesn't make for a long leisurely session in the shower though! The electrician has failed to turn up yesterday or today, we're pretty sure it's just a 2 minutes reset button job, but better to be on the safe side as the switch is in the bathroom! (If you are feeling brave look at the extras - on the plus side it does have a western loo and I gave it all a good clean!)
Today they let me play with children! I'm delighted to hear that the early intervention class, the setting up of which, was the reason I volunteered here for 6 months in 2007, has been restarted, led by the physio. She has two groups of children coming in in the week, all under 5 and some very young so I'm looking forward to time with them.
I went round the classes today chatting to staff and pupils. The bulk of the children blipped are in the youngest class, taught by Stella. It's interesting to see that I haven't lost my touch. The dancers are in the second class.
I've borrowed one of the mats I had made for the school a few years ago. They don't have them all in use at one time, so could spare it. I've put it on top of the coir mattress on my bed so that it's a little more comfortable.
I'm hoping to go and present myself to the Bishop tomorrow morning. I've been told it is a good day to do so. It tends to involve lots of hanging around, but a very warm welcome when I eventually get there.
