Portraits from Namibia
Today has been a bit complicated.
I went out early to do final food shopping before Julie arrived from hospital. I think I could feed an army now!
I spoke to her on the phone and she was very cheerful but she said that she had walked upstairs using a Zimmer frame. It took a while for her to agree that it was probably crutches.
To be honest, I thought that was just Julie. As the day went on, it became obvious that she was very confused and has not been allowed home. She told me it was high calcium but it is more likely low sodium. Hmm.
I’m going in tomorrow to see what I can find out. With her heart problems this is no joke.
I went to the warm hub at the Village Hall for a soup and scone lunch.
Sitting next to me was Julian, who it turns out was a diamond specialist. He and his wife Liz lived for three years in Botswana. We had all flown on the same clapped out DC3 plane at different times.
Then Vivienne told us her life story of her two marriages.
Then Anne arrived with a mobile phone playing loud music that she could not stop. (I could not see which app she was using, so I applied the age old method of powering down and powering up again. It worked.)
I visited Vicky (across the road) who has fractured her pelvis.
Then I came home for a rest before presenting my portraits at tonight’s photo group. I’m not sure what people really thought but I like them. You have to smile back at these lovely Namibians who all, played a part in looking after me, one way or another!
