Musing of a Lady

Visit

Today has been lovely. We drove to see our dear friends, Hans and Joyce. Hans and my dad have known each other for over fifty years and we've seen him whenever we came to Europe to visit. Over the years, Hans became something like a grandfather to my siblings and me as we didn't have a grandfather in the Netherlands. Then back in 2015, I stayed with Hans and Joyce during the summer; they were living on the Dutch German border at the time and had two ponies. At the time, I was in a bit of a lull between moving from one Youth With A Mission YWAM base to another. Over the years since then, I've kept in touch with them. Then since Little Man and I moved back to the Netherlands, we've tried to see them more regularly.

Caleb and I organised with them that we'd visit them today. They live about forty-five minutes away so Caleb came to collect us and then off we went. We had lunch with them, before we drove to some nearby dunes for a walk. Part of the tradition when we visit Hans and Joyce is that, after having had a meal, we got for a walk and then we go into a restaurant and get a hot drink, often with a dessert.

We weren't home until after five o'clock, and Little Man ended up having a short sleep on the way back, which means that he's still awake as I'm typing this (it's almost 8 p.m.)
