Not for running up

It would have been for running when I was younger. Unfortunately, it is all too easy these days to be uncertain when clambering up using root based mini-steps while carrying my Pentax with a telephoto lens. Even so, I managed the climb (without a stumble) and even walking rather than running this circuit took little more than a half hour. 

I am sad about the decrease in numbers and in visibility of the forest birds. A Kereru (NZ Wood Pigeon) flew through the open area at the back of the property, but was unseen and unheard by me thereafter. Tui have a nest in a tree by the front corner of the house, but I rarely see them. Maybe its just the heat making them stay in the leafage of the big trees.
