Edinburgh New Town ghosts
Although I wasn't able to go to my exercise classes today, I still walked with Karen to the gym. While the others were at aquafit, I worked on my computer in the lounge. Afterwards I walked with Ali and Bronwen back to Stockbridge, then with Ali to her flat for a cup of tea, biscuits, and a long overdue chat.
En route we passed these ghosts. Ali thinks that there are trees underneath the sheets. I thought that they looked pretty scary in the daylight. I can imagine that they could give passers-by quite a shock in the dark.
I was glad to be out of the house this morning while a gang of electricians came to get to the bottom of the problem with our central heating first identified on 12th December. They went through the whole flat checking every socket, including all those in our cellars. The flat was freezing cold and half in darkness when I reached home, with furniture and belongings scattered all over the place to allow access to all the sockets.
The team left at 2:30pm, by which time I was very hungry. I didn't take my coat, hat and scarf off until about 3pm. The good news is that the electricity hasn't tripped since my return, and the heating seems to be performing normally - at least for now. The electricians are due to come back again soon to do some more checks.
I have to say that I am very grateful that Mummy hazelh is safe and sound in her care home in Newcastle. I am not sure how we would have coped with her in the house on a day like today.
Poor Mr hazelh was left to tidy everything up on his own after the electricians left. This is because I am not allowed to exert myself while my eyes heal from surgery. I did, however, manage to cook a turkey pie for our supper, even if Mr hazelh was placed in charge of transferring the dishes to and from the oven.
There will be more catch-up television tonight.
Exercise today: walking (10,061 steps).
