Not the wool for Paddy's jumper

The corrective lenses placed in my eyes during yesterday's cataract operation give me amazing long vision, but I can no longer see clearly at close distance. Therefore the main priority of the morning (after the administration of the first of four daily sets of eyes drops) was to pop up to town to buy some reading glasses. I also had a peek at John Lewis' wool selection to see if there was any suitable for making a jumper for Paddy. I sent the blipped photo to him as a joke...

We ended up transforming the purchase errand into a long walk. We went as far as the charity shops on Dalry Road, taking a break for tea/coffee and pains au chocolat at Twelve Triangles. We returned by the Water of Leith cycle path, and saw four of my gym friends along the way: Pauline, Rob, Ali C, and Helen.

Back home again, and in possession of the glasses, I was able to answer the kind messages that others sent me last night and today. I then decided to 'audit' all our spare spectacles, and donate to charity all that are no longer of any use to us. This necessitated another walk out, this time to the post office to send the glasses to a charity that passes them on to people in need across the world, and to the Bethany shop to drop off all the spare glasses cases.

This evening we will be catching up on television viewing. We still haven't made it through all the special Christmas programmes of Only Connect.

Exercise today: walking (18,095 steps).
