The Fritz
Our little local cinema, and this is where we watched A Complete Unknown. Central Hall is one of the oldest buildings on the island. As well as being the cinema, the hall is also used for meetings and groups like the island Square Dance Club. The chairs can be moved out of the way for events other than films. Not like the huge cinema chains that can be found in cities! It does have a huge screen and good sound though. I can't remember the last time we went to a film, before Covid for sure. I decided to drive up to take a photo of The Fritz before going grocery shopping. Colour version in the extra.
Long waits going into and returning from town because of the road repairs and long lines in the grocery shop. I was glad to get home.
I'm copying a paragraph that I wrote in my other journal about a huge windstorm on this island in 2018. After 5 days without power, G and I decided to head to the mainland on Dec. 24 for Christmas with family. We came home on the 28th, and the power came on that afternoon.
After seeing numerous blips about the trees down because of Storm Eowyn, I searched for a video about the worst wind storm I've experienced on this island. The winds were incredible, and hundreds of trees came down. Power was out for days on most of the island. The video shows some of the damage days after the storm and some of the clean up had started. Destruction Hopefully an ad won't come up before the video starts. It was devastating to see so many trees down.
