This'n'That

Down the stairs

The door was open to the basement of the Rock Salt Restaurant, and I thought that the view down the stairs would work for the MM theme of 'perspective'. Thanks to laurie54 for hosting MM in January.
We saw A Complete Unknown in our little local cinema yesterday and loved it. Stunning performances by Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan and Monica Barbara as Joan Baez, both fantastic singers, and great performances by all the cast members. So interesting to see Dylan's relationships with Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, and Joan Baez. A movie I'd highly recommend, especially if you're a Dylan fan. I couldn't restrain myself from cheering loudly and clapping at the end of the movie and singing along as the credits were playing. Not many others in the audience were as vocal!  :-)
We saw Bob Dylan at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver in 1978 - wow, what a concert! Have to admit that Chalamet is a better singer than Bob, but it's hard to beat Bob's lyrics. We so identified with them and many are very applicable in today's times. Great that his writing talent was recognized by him being awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for his poetry. G talked to Bill this morning. Bill saw Dylan play in the 60s with The Band, and just like the audience at the Newport Folk Festival in the movie, there were boos because he had "gone electric", changing from the acoustic guitar they wanted to hear him play.
We've seen films about these famous musicians: Freddy Mercury, Elvis, and Bob Dylan. All of the men who played the parts have been fantastic. Must be challenging to sing songs that so many fans love - and sing them so well. These three really rose to the challenge.
