Muddy puddles
I really enjoyed the camera club talk by Robert Harvey last night. It was a talk on which lens to use for landscapes, and while the most commonly used lens is usually a 24 - 70 mm lens he showed us the difference when using a telephoto lens for the same location, or a wide angle lens, even a fisheye lens. I felt inspired to dig my old fisheye lens out the cupboard so this image today was taken on my walk in the woods with the fisheye lens to give a very wide perspective. If you keep the horizon level it reduces the distortion that you get with a fisheye lens. This muddy puddle is there all winter, on weekends you will find children jumping in it with their wellies on (it seems to be an essential development skill these days to get your children playing in muddy puddles...)
It has rained for most of the day with some dry periods in between, which I timed for my walks with Xena.
I booked tickets today for the WPOTY exhibition, I am going on Friday with Meriel as she has a few days off after her work trip to Africa.
I have also been doing some research on Joshua Tree National Park as we want to go spend a night there when we visit Adam in May, to photograph the night skies. Unfortunately it will be a new moon when we are there which does not help the dark skies.
