Naked & Afraid
On Sunday we spent most of the day in the hotel, and then a couple of hours driving around New Jersey on an unsuccessful search for a massage. Then it was time to get back for more free food and an whole evening watching Tom's new favourite US show - Naked and Afraid. I was relieved to discover that this did not involve keeping people prisoner in dungeons in the manner of Josef Fritzl, but is actually a survival show where a man and woman are left naked in some godforsaken inhospitable environment with the challenge of surviving 25 days. Ever since I've been reflecting on various strategies I'd use to survive, and came up with the excellent idea of not shaving leg/armpit hair for the preceding couple of weeks to build up an insulating layer. I'd also harden up my feet for walking in the various nasty terrains, and put on some weight and muscle for insulation and strength. On Monday we began our journey up north and stayed in Rhode Island (another state to tick off!). This picture was taken at Mystic, Connecticut which is a pretty little town on the water. As part of the jetlag elimination programme, I challenged myself to stay up until 11 but actually managed 12:30 due to drinking and talking.
