Begur
After all the treats and lovely experiences here, it was time for some soul-destroying manual labour. The camper van we're using here is old and in continual need of TLC; so at the moment we're focussing on making it look better, including such fun jobs as removing excess paint from door/window seals and tyres where it has oversprayed. The product bought for this very purpose didn't work, so I somehow ended up hunched over a bowl of water peeling dried paint and glue off all the rubber seals with my fingertips. I was doing this for hours and went into a weird trance-like state; but in an odd way it was quite satisfying.
To reward ourselves we drove up to Begur for tapas and ice cream - it's a really pretty town just up the coast with some apparently very expensive property nearby. Some we saw in estate agents' windows were 12 million euros; and we wondered what you might actually be able to get for this - surely not just a house but a whole pueblo or stretch of coast? Personally, I'd find one of the 1 million euro properties more than satisfactory: for this price you can be right by the sea and enjoy an infinity pool, terrace area and a couple of spare bedrooms for your visitors/servants. That would do me.
