Down By The River
Just as we decided it was time to pull out leftovers last night, Kim called to invite us to dinner. They were off yesterday for the MLK Federal holiday so Mancil decided to smoke ribs. They were incredibly tender and tasty. Kim had made her MIL a peanut butter chocolate cake and we brought ice cream so we had dessert before coming home. It was an unexpected fun evening. I was awake reading until 2:30 am but felt relaxed enough to get up by 8:00. I finally was able to get back to the dentist today. Little did I know the appointment entailed more than redoing the “impression” and reinserting the temporary crown. The company making the permanent crown requested that my dentist drill off more tooth - arg. At least I felt no pain. My permanent crown should be ready by 19 February. Before my appointment, I stopped by a little park near the private high school my children attended. Just as I arrived, these geese left the shoreline. They swam quite a distance before I could get a closer shot. But I thought the whole scene was worthy of blipping; it was so peaceful. It was 19°F and my hands were frozen by the time I returned to the van. I dropped off supplies for the nuns we help support. Hubby did quite a few little jobs while I was gone. He made at least a temporary repair to my bird feeder and fragile laser cut Christmas Nativity ornament. This was his third and final glue job on that thin piece of balsam wood. We had lunch, I cleaned the kitchen and attacked my dining room table. All that’s left is getting the leaf out, resetting it and moving all the boxes upstairs. I put as much stuff as possible in XEROX boxes to make it easier to carry the decorations up and down our stairs. There are a few items that still must be packed in a bigger box. I’ll work on phase 2 tomorrow since hubby is napping. We’ll have another quiet evening. Wishing you the same. Stay safe. Thanks for stopping by. “The simplicity of the river reminds me to appreciate the beauty in everyday moments.” - Edward Abbey
