If you go down in the woods today……
You’re sure of a small surprise:))
A calm, fresh start to Saturday. The roads are noticeably quieter first thing at the weekend, that is other than the odd juggernaut chugging up the hill from the main road. Dippy and I didn’t go too far first thing after yesterday’s epic “Tour of Codden Hill”. A gentle stroll to and from the pet store for some more bird food was ample for both of us. 7 magpies in one tree was an interesting sight, I remember as a youth seeing rows of them together with jays and moles hanging limply on the barbed wire fence outside the gamekeeper’s cottage, a warning to any threat to his livelihood. We seem to have stopped most of this practice (as far as I know) and simply bred millions of pheasants to feed the “sporting appetite “ of those who have the time and money to participate.
The rest of our day was fairly insignificant, other than watching my immediate neighbours sell their camper van as they have now moved into a brick dwelling in the area. We wandered slowly through the fields to refuel the wild birds in the woodland area. A small turbot fried/broiled gently with some crusty bread satisfied me whilst Dippy enjoyed some chopped up kidney with his kibble.
Zzzzzzzz
