Bird life

After our lazy start to the day we checked the streams for blockages during a foray out on the farm. Nothing majorly was found and so into the woods to see if any birds had found the fat and seed filled coconut halves. The result was a no, not yet. Up the hill and beyond the copse a ewe lay motionless and on a closer inspection was found to be dead. We duly reported it before returning to Amadeus for a hearty breakfast.
Off then to Vellator quay immediately spotting a kingfisher busy catching small fry on the river’s edge, further along its mate perched on a seaweady rock long enough for several people who had not seen a kingfisher view it through my binoculars.
Th chilling wind kept us moving briskly but the bird life on the estuary was prolific:
Huge flocks of lapwings, a herons the usual swans hanging around to be fed by the roadside, little and cattle egrets, redshank, Greenshank, oystercatchers brambling, Skylarks, an unidentified hawk and many others too. Back to the warmth of Amadeus and some much needed nourishment.
Zzzzzzzz
