Crummack Dale
Day 5 of the Dales High Way, from Settle to Chapel-le-Dale. We decided to take the bad weather alternative, rather than go over the top of Ingleborough. Neither of is very sure footed, and the guide called the start of the descent "hair raising". In the event it was the right choice because it came on to rain steadily about the time we would have been at the summit.
The blip is of a huge area of limestone pavement, above Crummack Dale. Perhaps there are bigger areas, but this scale was new to us.
We stayed in the Old Hill Inn, just outside Chapel-le-Dale. There is something especially nice about staying in a pub, with good food, good beer, the rain beating against the windows, and knowing you don't have to go out again.
