Sun and Moon in Rhyl
FRIDAY
A trip over to Rhyl. A cappuccino at the 1891 Theatre Bar and a walk on the beach. Temperatures were hovering around 2ºC but there were extensive patches of ice on the promenade and on pavements in the town.
The Sky Tower was an observation tower which first operated at the Glasgow Garden Festival. Following the festival, it was dismantled and reassembled on the Rhyl seafront. It last operated 2010, but due to the excessive cost of repairs it was decommissioned and, in 2017, work was carried out to turn the tower into a beacon.
At 3:00 pm today the sun was behind the tower looking west from the beach and the moon (see extra) behind the tower when looking east.
Stopped off at Sainsbury's on the way home and an icy walk to the village postbox at -4ºC this evening.
