Dymchurch beach

Headed out to the coast again today, this time for a 7 miler return trip between Dymchurch and New Romney. Much of the walk was along the beach, the remainder along the sea wall. It’s a route we often cycle if we’ve been riding on Romney Marsh in the summer.

Like yesterday, the tide was way out, to misquote Lady Findhorn, so far out that the shoreline appeared to be nearer France than the UK. Which is why the track of our route appears to be in the sea!

Although it was as cold as yesterday, there was very little wind which made it feel quite benign. We’ve walked this route in driving rain and winds so strong that the beach sands are drifting like those in a desert. If you’re interested, typing @tryfan46#dymchurch into the search box will show all my shots of this walk over the years.

The beach here is vast and sandy with such wonderful light especially when the tide is out and there a clouds and breaks around. There were quite a few people out and about mainly with dogs. The vastness of the beach dwarfed everyone.

Our walk was bookended by visits to Unit 1, craft brewery in West Hythe. This morning we had coffee and shared a salted caramel brownie. At the end a pint (and a half for Susan) of local ales with some salted peanuts.

So pleased you liked yesterday’s blip of a Whitstable sunset. It’s often a good location for sunsets
