Sunset through sailing club masts

A delightful, if cold walk along the seafront from Seasalter through Whitstable and on to Longrocks beyond Tankerton and back. Almost 8 miles of flat walking!

A very keen wind behind us for the outward journey. Sparking views in bright sunshine which we weren’t able to take advantage of as this is a north facing coast and the sun was already low in the sky.

We had lunch at the harbour sitting in the sun in a sheltered spot, protected from the wind and attended by a beady eyed herring gull who wanted some of our lunch. We called in at the tea room in Whitstable Castle before carrying on to our destination and turnaround.

The way back was a mite chilly, in the shade, still with uninterrupted views across the Thames. By the time we’d finished a large pot of tea at the Hotel Continental the sun had set and the wind dropped a little.

The final few miles were lit up by a gloriously fading sunset which put a spring into our step back to the car. The extra is of Whitstable Harbour!
