Virtually the same picture as yesterday but with more sun. I went on quite a long walk first thing as the day was so lovely in the sunshine. There was enough snow on various bare patches of ground to see that it had snowed but it’s precious little compared to other parts of the country.
Meanwhile we still have no heating. The problem that was diagnosed hid another problem that a part has to be found for. We’re getting pretty good at coping, the fire lit first thing, curtains erected between rooms which are open plan and mainly, for me keeping moving if I’m not in the warm room. I’ve had two significant walks. And my barn office heater is fine.
Meanwhile the horrors in LA rumble on, thank goodness for the very small mercy of the Hollywood Fire being contained, thanks to the reservoir lake in Hollywood park, my colleague who I had a zoom with late afternoon looked shattered but said although the family’s bags were packed their evacuation had been stood down. V’s family still have a house in the Hollywood Hills and the fire got within two streets of it but it seems ok, for now. But another colleague I was messaging texted ‘it’s a profound catastrophe’.
