Sunbathing
Took the Lula walk alone, delighting in being back. The Lake has gone down, so obviously not been a lot of rain while we were away, but loads of flowers out - not the explosion of colours that will come soon, but carpets of various yellow and white ones, including the first rock roses.
Woke to mist, but the sun emerged, and the turtles were out, sunbathing. Most of them plopped into the water before I got near, but this one, on the causeway, stayed, just moving its head.
Gratefuls:
- a day to catch up on stuff neglected while away; time to readjust to a very different rhythm and lifestyle
- the silence and stillness, just sheep bells, hoopoe calls, an occasional small aeroplane
- a bright yellow hot air balloon in the blue sky over the São Sebastião chapel as Mike and Jaime chatted at our gate
Here a video of Jimmy Carter reading one of his poems, on this day of his funeral.
