Clam Carnage
Walking along the beach, from Manta Rota, watched this gull dive into the sea and emerge with the razor clam. In extra, flying away with it, love the shape of its wings - think it thought I was trying to steal its lunch.
Saw a flight of around fifty cormorants, and a massive colony of these gulls, resting along the beach below Cacela Velha. Also a curlew, dunlins, sparrows. Colder than yesterday, and less sunshine, but still pleasant.
We then drove to Fábrica, on the far side, and realised we'd been there before, but good to relate all these places to each other. The restaurant on the beach was open, so had a delicious algarvian tuna lunch, extra of the view.
Drove home, mostly through grey skies and rain, to a cold (but not freezing) house, and two needy (but fat) cats.
Gratefuls:
- good food and wine at reasonable prices
- the beauty of the Algarvian coast
- our wood burner and electric blanket, electricity and water all working, and cats OK, not to mention the car; we are blessed
