Behold the Sun..

..for a fleeting moment!  I had to dash out the front door in my slippers to catch it  before it disappeared for yet another day!  

It was a lazy Sunday, but I did manage to get out to the local garden centre in search of orchids. I felt the need for an orchid or two to brighten up my now sparsely decorated living room. It feels so barren now that the Christmas tree is gone. 

Alas, Their collection of orchids was somewhat lacking so I will wait for another day for those, but I did pick up two charming little Christmas cactus still in bloom that had not yet found a home... 

I expected some poinsettias and of course, some Christmas cactus and maybe an amaryllis or two to be on sale, but was quite surprised and overwhelmed by the vast array of Christmas ornaments, decor and even trees that still filled half of the entire place!  Shelves and display islands were laden with everything Christmas; whole walls were covered in tree ornaments. All that left over? Did they not sell anything before the holidays? It will take a really good sale to move all that merchandise along, but luckily for me, I am still determined to cut back, rather than add to my Christmas decorations. I left with only my two cactus...which will more than pay for themselves by being available for a couple of emergency blips while they still have those lovely blooms.
