A time for everything

Snow day!

Sunday
We were up quite early as usual on a Sunday, as we usually have to be at church for 8.30. R had gone down to make us some tea, and I had just had a shower, when we got a message to say that out of an abundance of caution they were canceling service this morning. We had been warned it was a possibility due to the impending storm, but since there was no sign of snow yet we were surprised. The snow didn’t start until about half way through service time, and it was very fine, so took a long time to accumulate. However, with the temperature being well below freezing it started sticking to the roads immediately, and they would soon have become slick. R had experienced another bad night, so he decided to go back to bed, but since I was already showered I got up. I decided to watch the service from my home church in Sheffield, where my brother and sister in law still go. It was a nice service, and I enjoyed singing along with the hymns - English services generally have more congregational singing than we do over here.
The snow continued virtually all day, but was still very fine, so at this point we have barely 3:inches, but it is supposed to continue into tomorrow, so we shall see what the morning brings! The temperatures remain below freezing day and night for at least 10 days, so whatever we get will be around for a while. As you can see in my thumbnail photo, the snow plow was round a couple of times during the day - our neighbourhood usually does a great job at clearing and salting the roads. So it was a day for my usual indoor activities - Duolingo, knitting and piano playing. We enjoyed a roast lamb dinner in the evening, and afterwards played a few games of Boggle. As usual I won -:being an engineer R is more of a number person, whereas being interested in languages as I always have been, I’m more of a word person! Though when I was at grammar school, I did very well at English Language but not so well at English literature!
