A time for everything

Mr Cardinal

Saturday
The birds were flocking to the feeders this morning, and enjoying the liquid water in the heated bird bath. Unfortunately most of the birds were starlings, though a few others got a look in from time to time. At one point, a red-bellied woodpecker and a starling were having quite a set-to, and the woodpecker won!
After watching the birds while we were having breakfast, R and I spent much of the morning researching new kitchen saucepans and frying pan. Our current set is non stick, and getting to the end of its life, and with the findings about nonstick pans, we have decided to go for stainless steel and a ceramic frying pan. With those ordered on Amazon, I got on with my Spanish on Duolingo.
It was a cold (below freezing) day, but bright and sunny, so we donned our thermal underwear under our jeans, and our thick winter coats, hats and gloves, and drove to Rowe Woods for a hike, which was where I captured the beautiful male Cardinal posing nicely on a branch in the sunlight near the visitor centre. When we got back home, a hot cup of tea accompanied by a slice of Christmas cake was very welcome!
Dinner was a bit late this evening, and we ate it in front of the TV, watching the Cincinnati Bengals football game against the Piitsburgh Steelers. We’re not great football fans, but the Bengals are in a winning streak at present, and this was another must win game for them in order to continue. As usual with the Bengals, they seem to like to keep you on the edge of your seat right until the end, but they did hang on to a win, by 2 points!
