Laura Marling
The colours in this are so intense that my eyes go funny when I look away from it. Maybe don't stare at it for too long...
Another busy day! I had a job interview this morning, and it went pretty well but I think I won't take the job if they offer it to me. It's a traditional hospitality job, with really long hours and lots carrying plates and coffees without dropping anything. Given how low my energy levels are right now, and my general clumsiness, I think the worst thing I could do is take a job like this.
I headed out to uni for my second class, which was also pretty interesting. We got to watch videos, which is always awesome, and the lecturer seems really nice. I got lost coming home because I've never driven home via the freeway before so that was a bit awkward - google maps was useless because I couldn't figure out where I was on the map, so I had to call Dad. Oops.
Home for long enough to talk over the pros and cons of quitting Phillippa's and then to actually quit - mega relief, even if I'm now once again unemployed - before eating and heading for the tram stop with Liv. We met Henry outside St Michael's church on Collins street, where the lovely Laura Marling was playing.
Ugh, what a perfect gig. The support act - Marika Hackman - was amazing (I've already bought her album). Laura Marling was, as always, incredible. She's my favourite singer and every album she writes is better than the last. HEr voice is perfectly suited to an echoey church and it was really atmospheric in there. She's really funny in this awkwardly witty way, and she spent a lot of time tuning her guitars because she got rid of her crew but she managed to keep us entertained. This is the third time I've seen her live and I will probably try go to every gig of hers that I can get to.
This is the massive organ in the church - it was all lit up with these crazy purple lights, although the effect in the actual church is less intense. I wanted a picture of Laura Marling performing but I ended up sitting too far away to get a good one. Plus she was so transfixing that I didn't even get my camera out when she played.
