Big Changes Ahead
We were back in church for another funeral. This gentleman, who lives behind us, is our next door neighbor’s father. Our church will be renovated starting next week. This shot will memorialize the “before” look. COVID cleaning ruined our pews. After extensive research, the building planning team found that it is cheaper to purchase new pews than restore the existing ones. What a shame, they are solid oak! Parishioners can buy an old pew if interested. We simply do not have room for one. The floors will completely be redone and that is long overdue. The altar area is being expanded. There is very little walking or kneeling space up there. Our attendance numbers dropped after COVID as did all church attendance after the pandemic. A few of the front pews will not be replaced to make room for an improved altar space. We will have Mass in the gym/cafeteria area for approximately three months. Our parish has been saving for this improvement for several years. We came home, did laundry and heated our lunch. Kim and Brooklyn came by to pick up fresh veggies Cindy brought here for Brook. It is almost nap time. We have prayers for another friend at the funeral home this evening. We volunteered at our parish monthly donut social with her and her hubby. They retired from that job and we did it for years. Now it is sponsored by the Knights. The temps are going down and the winds are still blowing. There is a chance for us getting a bit of snow tomorrow night. It sure feels like snow weather inside too. I am wrapped in a blanket and still chilly. Wishing you a cozy evening. Stay safe.
