My topsy-turvy life

Could have been -very- bracing

In search of something to do on a wet and windy New Year's Day we opted for a trip to Powys Castle thinking that they at least had an indoor bit if needed. We got there (along with another three cars) to find the gates locked and a sign saying "CLOSED" because of the adverse weather. Despite there being nothing about it online.

Plan B: We'd put our boots in the car in case we fancied a walk up to Rodney's Pillar, so off we headed in that direction, much to Owen's displeasure. The weather gods were obviously listening to him as it started to rain as we approached.

Plan C: "Let's go for a walk at Haughmond Hill instead." As we got back in towards Shrewsbury it seemed to be getting windier and we sensibly decided that walking through trees in the wind might not be the best idea after all.

Plan D: Stop off at the Quarry instead for a walk around the Dingle (it too was closed) and a play in the park, dressed as Harry Potter...finally, success!

Once we were home and warmed up again we had a quick go with Owen's food science present*.
Maybe we should have stuck with that from the beginning.
