The day that the rains came down.
It was raining heavily when we got up. Around lunch time I looked out and the path was covered in half an inch or so of water. I looked out an hour or so later and we were marooned. So on with old shoes trousers rolled up grab a rake and go next door. The culvert for the stream that runs between the houses if between us but the grid covering the entrance is in their garden. The family were in London for the New Year otherwise R would have done the job.
Grid raked clear of detritus that included 2 five gallon animal feed buckets and a couple of logs. The water fell a little as I raked. By the time I was back in our garden the water was 28cm (11") deep at the front door. A neighbour raked it sometime later and when I looked out the garden was dry. I went out again around 10:00 as heavy rain was forecast for over night. The water was half way down the grid but the whole of the grid had 8-10cm (3=4") of weed over it BY morning the garden was still dry.
The blip and extra are two views of our front garden. At the height of the flood there was no ground in the garden above water.
