Guten Rutsch
This blip’s title is a much used German phrase on this day, used to wish others a good start into the New Year. Literally, it means “(have a) good slide”, and it’s very appropriate today - the conditions outside are icy, and quite slippery in parts. I met my friend U for a walk in the afternoon, and we had to turn back at some point, where a steep part of our path was completely covered in black ice.
Earlier, I had visited my mother for lunch. Her house in the Taunus hills is surrounded by a fairytale forest now, with hoar frost on all surfaces. I’m using up some of my last remaining extras of 2024 for more frosty impressions, and end this year’s blip entries by wishing all of you a “Guten Rutsch” toward 2025.
