A day in the life

Revy

Maybe the word is "Cabaret" in English but Revy, or Revue is a good description of the type of play. A proper revy is a mirror, a comment of the time we've had the last year or decade, often performed with a lot of  humor or/and satire. The play reflects usually local events and is supposed to hackle politicians, events and, as always, the local football team.

We, the Kalmar theatres team of audience-hosts were invited to see the first dress rehearsal of the show together with an audience of friends, friends of friends and background staff, about a hundred people. It's the companies fifteenth revy, the two in charge has always been there while the others have changed. I'm not a fan of some of the humour used, often a bit sexist but this year many of the numbers were unexpectedly sharp and the singing was brilliant, even in the simpler numbers. The sound was also professional and a delight to hear.

I hope they get a good audience on their premiere on new years eve, they've worked hard and are worth it.
