Ullswater steamer trip
A second day unexpectedly fabulous weather was the backdrop to the Boxing Day activities.
First, a note about the buffet; well it was spectacular. A four course buffet, lots of salady starters, hot main course, acres of deserts, ending with cheese.
The first activity today was a mass walk from the hotel to Lantry’s Tarm (extra) and down into Greenside valley where snacks and nibbles were provided to sustain the group for the journey back to the hotel.
We didn’t stop but went on for an extended walk, arriving back at the hotel in time for a light lunch of soup, sandwiches and the most wonderfully crunchy pastry pork pie and yet more sweet bites.
Conditions were ideal for a cruise on Ullswater where the light, clouds, reflections and scenery were sublime. So many to chose from. Even on the boat we were sustained by Christmas cake and mulled wine.
The final gala dinner was excellent, every mouthful! I felt better about eating it having been for a five mile run after the steamer ride.
The final evening is drawing to an end. It’s been a marvellous few days, made by the weather, the whole Christmas experience.
