Boxing Day walk
And so another Christmas has come and gone. I admit I failed to feel very Christmassy this year, I missed some lovely events that usual trigger the Christmas spirit in me and now here I am on the other side of Christmas thinking it was all a bit flat this year - similar to the very expensive bottle of Dom Perignon we tried to drink yesterday for Christmas which was flat and tasted a bit off, which was a great pity. We think we were given it as a gift as it was a very old vintage and obviously very valuable but sadly it did not fare well stored in our home.
Last night we watched Wallace and Gromit, and it was excellent and very funny. This was followed by the King's Speech (on catchup) and then finally the much anticipated Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special. The series finished in 2009 and since then we have had two Christmas specials, the last one being 5 years ago. It was every bit as good as it ever was, no wonder it was watched by around 12.3 million viewers, the largest Christmas TV audience in a decade. The show is bang on with it's humour and quick fire quips, the very best of British humour.
This morning I was up early, exercise done and then after breakfast we went for the traditional Boxing Day walk. Oh how I remember those crisp and sunny Boxing Day walks, but today was just grey and bleh. It was a good walk though. Back home to lunch which was leftovers from yesterday, so nice and easy.
I have spent the afternoon packing as we leave tomorrow very early in the morning to drive to Switzerland for New Year, as we have done for the past 20 years. We are driving with Xena but Adam, Anna and Luke are flying there. Thankfully the forecast there is blue skies and sunshine for the week ahead, I do love those sunny and snowy days.
Sadly the Christmas tree will be taken down today, and all decorations packed away. I don't like to return home in January to find Christmas decorations still up.
Our days with Adam are now very limited, it is going to be a very bittersweet time in Switzerland with him.
