Christmas day
Happy Christmas to one and all! I hope that you have all had a very enjoyable Christmas, however you spent the day.
I was up early and have been on the go all day. I had lists and timings to remind me of what was to go into the oven and when. Last night Adam and Anna made a tiramisu, it sure was a very special tiramisu - it took hours to make as they had to make ten cups of espresso and firstly they had to get the strength and brew correct (using Luke's fancy coffee machine that he brought from his home with him). When I went to sleep last night they were still busy making it! They also started a sourdough loaf, and first thing this morning they baked it.
While I was making the trifle this morning, Adam and Anna baked the sourdough loaf and then prepared the muffin trays with the baked eggs with salmon for breakfast. Tommy phoned and we had a long facetime video call, it was already the evening in Australia and we had not yet started our day. They spent the day on the beach at Noosa and are about to move on to Tasmania.
The present opening started, although we had a break to eat breakfast as we were all hungry by now. Then we finished off opening the presents followed by tidying up. I started preparing the food, helped by Anna and Luke who were peeling vegetables.
All went according to plan and we sat down at about 3pm to enjoy our Christmas feast - turkey, roast lamb, roast potatoes, red cabbage, brussel sprouts with pancetta and chestnuts, parsnips, carrots, pigs in blanket, stuffing balls, and of course roast potatoes. It was very much enjoyed!
This was followed by the tiramisu and trifle - both of which I cannot eat but the tiramisu looked quite incredible. We facetimed my family in SA, and when we finally got up from the dining table it was after 6pm.
Everything has been washed up and tidied away and I am about to relax watching some Christmas TV.
That's it for another year!
