Take two
Happy Christmas, blipmates! Serious camera malfunctions, so this is the only photo that survived, once everyone had got fed up of me trying to get it right.
It was a good day anyway. S and I went to visit his mum straight after breakfast. We opened some presents with her, and in the process she consumed a chocolate eclair, some Belgian chocolate, a Christmas pudding biscuit, and a chocolate coin … R and A, who visited after we left, reported that she refused her Christmas lunch because she wasn’t hungry. Oops.
Back home, we got going on the lunch. S did some complicated calculations to work out how we could cut the joint of beef in half and cook it so that one half was medium rare (for us) and the other well done (for everyone else). With the aid of the meat thermometer I bought in a sale in Brighton, it worked, to our surprise. The potatoes (yesterday’s blip) just needed reheating, and I boiled the sprouts while S rescued the excessively oniony gravy I made yesterday, and made some excellent Yorkshire puddings. Then cheese and biscuits followed by tiny slices of Aldi Christmas pudding, and port for those who wanted it. All very satisfying.
We finally got round to opening presents before A dashed off to watch Dr Who at the care home with S’s mum, and the rest of us gently digested. Then R and H left to catch up with A, and we enjoyed the totally wacky episode of Wallace and Gromit. And now to chill before an early night.
