A new Christmas Eve Tradition...
Last Christmas Eve D and I had lunch at the Cain and it was so lovely we decided we would do it again this year.
We invited our friends Keith and Mairi to join us and had an even better time :-). The hotel is so beautiful and the staff so warm and welcoming and the food is outstanding. What a lovely way to spend Christmas Eve afternoon. We left the Cairn just after 5pm and headed back to ours.
Despite having enjoyed a three course lunch, we had tea and coffee and tucked into my gingerbread fudge and other festive goodies. Keith and Mairi gave us a Christmas gift that included a festive pot noodle. It made me laugh (I told them ages ago that when D goes to his singing rehearsals on a Tuesday night I can't be bothered cooking dinner for one so sometimes have a pot noodle :-)
Christmas Eve is my favourite day of the festive period and we all agreed we'd had a lovely time and that dinner at the Cairn on 24th December should become a new tradition. I'm happy to agree to that.
They left just after 7pm and despite my best intentions to get as far on with food prep for tomorrow as possible, I didn't! That said I'm not too worried as there's not a lot of prep to be done. A herb crust for the rack of lamb and the dauphinoise potatoes to be assembled, both will take no time, and the carrots and parsnips to be put in a roasting tin and shoved in the Aga. Easy peasy. Starter and dessert already done, so it's been a relaxing evening watching Christmas Bake Off and other un-challenging tv! :-))
Wishing each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas <3 xx
