Driving Home For Christmas

Maybe not for this Porsche driver though, who was about to be escorted off the M53 by one unmarked, and one marked, police car. I spotted another unmarked car sitting on the flyover at the junction, so they were obviously serious about stopping this chap!
Today was the annual pilgrimage to Chester to visit relatives. Those still with us, those no longer with us and those who could be said to have a foot in both camps!
Chester itself was quite pleasant - dry and not too cold. It was almost enjoyable wandering around various churchyards leaving appropriately Christmassy arrangements on the family plots.
But the drive down the M6 was horrendous - strong winds and driving rain. The travel bulletins were predicting large numbers of people on the roads today, but I didn’t think it was that busy, though there were more lorries around than is usual for a Saturday. Which meant a lot of spray to deal with as well as the rain.
The drive home was equally gruelling - wind, rain and lorries again - but we made it home in a reasonable time and are now settling in for the night.
Still, duty done and cards/presents delivered. And the furthest I’ll have to travel for the next week is from home to the gym.
Let the festivities begin…
