Winter Solstice
Yay! I am so excited it is the shortest day of the year, as it means that our days will slowly - very slowly - be getting longer. As I get older I dislike winter more than I used to...I really don't like the short days.
Today was wet and windy. Luke came home this morning for Christmas, and he and Gavin went to play 9 holes of golf. I did not join them as it was horrible weather and unfortunately I am still suffering from a sore wrist, 'golfer's wrist'. I thought the rest from golf while I was away on holiday would cure it, but it is still painful.
After golf I joined them for the Christmas lunch at the golf club. In the past we have managed to get a booking on the 24th when everyone was home, but it is so popular we were on the waiting list for a while and then could only get a booking for today, so it was only Gavin, Luke and I at the lunch as Adam and Anna arrive home on Monday night after work.
The club seems to have gone to town on their Christmas dinner celebrations this year. They had some lovely carol singers who went around from table to table singing requests to the table - I requested 'In the bleak mid winter' which they sang beautifully. There was a Father Christmas for the children and many ornately decorated Christmas trees and decorations. As we were leaving this 'elf' saw my camera and asked me to take a photo of him! In extras a photo of Luke. The lunch by the way was delicious, and no need for supper tonight!
I caught up on ironing this afternoon while Gavin took Xena for a pedicure at the doggie parlour in the village - her nails need cutting fairly regularly.
And now, back to more episodes of The Day of the Jackal, its great!
