Get into the Christmas spirit

'Tis the season to be merry, but a big yah boo sucks to the post office, which was shut.  On a Saturday afternoon, eleven days before Christmas.  Fortunately there are two other post offices within easy biking distance, but the nearer of them I don't like the people that run it, and every time I attempt to transact some business I feel shorter coming out than when I went in.  The other is run by a quite friendly guy but his English is very strongly accented, and I find it hard to understand him.  Pleasantries won out over convenience.  I wasn't feeling great though, and after spending all morning wrapping presents and writing cards for faraway lands I hope I made the right decision about 1st class vs 2nd class.

I was all for going home by that point as I was on the precipice again, but I decided maybe more miles would help, so I cycled to Mum and Dad's to say hello and deliver a couple of cards.  I didn't stay too long, and as Mum was still feeling a bit poorly I whipped out my FFP3-ish mask: if the pandemic taught me anything it's that masks help.  Even if paracetamol doesn't.

For curiosity's sake I went home via the new Aldi.  They've spent what feels like two years building it, although I think it was about 18 months of roadworks and six months erecting the shop.  The bike parking is fairly good: it's covered, which is the main thing, and near the entrance, which is the other main thing.

Still not feeling great I went home to write the rest of my Christmas cards, have a quick walk round the place to deliver them and flop and have tea.
