#pizzafriday

This time Lidl was open as normal when I arrived at 8.45am, unlike yesterday. It was a bit busier that usual too. Perhaps with people like me who intended to do their shopping yesterday morning.
Everything went OK until I got to the tills. I told the young girl that two bottles of washing up liquid had started leaking, so asked her to put them to one side. So I could put them in a seperate place to the rest of my shopping - I put them in with the shopping bags hanging from the hook on the trolley.
She had put through half my shopping when the scanner decided to stop working. After fiddling around with it, two supervisors one by one, came to help. Pulling the scanner out, fiddling with the cables and rebooting the computer. I was stood there for around 15 minutes.
In the end I had to reload the shopping that was on the belt into my trolley, then go and put them through at another till which they opened for me. The same girl put the shopping through for me again and even started to help me load everything onto the belt.
She was very apologetic and said it was a computer problem. I told her that I understood as I used to use a computer to do graphic design, but now I teach English. She remarked "Oooh that's a bit of a change". I also mentioned that my wife works for a company that supplies tills. Their biggest client is KFC.
Anyway, we got through and I went to load up Mega Breadvan and take my usual pizza shot. I then realised that I had got two free leaky bottles of washing up liquid, which had stayed in my bag hanging on the trolley. Ah well, little victories, eh?
After loading up and on the way to take my trolley back, I bumped into my sister in law, who was departing the car park in her car. Seems she is back to driving again, following her car accident earlier in the year (although I really like her, we've known for years that she is a struggling alcoholic). We had a nice chat anyway. Don't see each other very often as I've sort of fallen out with her husband, who is my Mme MB's brother.

She thought that she had seen me in my van driving away from the village the other day and waved at them. Then realised it wasn't me. I explained that I only drive around the village and not much outside of it, mainly because I still get panic attacks. I'm not keen on the idea of causing an accident if I get one. As it is, I can sort of lose my breath when driving the short distance from Lidl to home.
It's silly really, as 40 years later, my past life from back then, is still affecting me and I can't seem to shake it. I'll be 55 in January, so I suppose I've just accepted that I'll have to live with it.
Even sillier, I bought Mega Breadvan in 2018 and you'd think that by now I'd venture even futher away.

Mme MB is working from home today, so she helped me put some of the shopping away and we can at least have lunch together. I'll do a bit of work later, as I received homework from one of Saturday morning's students, last night.
