Leaving
Backblip
The time has come to return home, so at 8.20am we all get on the coach to take us to the airport. I take some last photos of Mount Teide (extra) and lower down the beautiful Canarian pines as we travel towards the coast. Tour guide C reads us some of Pliny the Younger’s letters to Tacitus. about the eruption of Vesuvius as we wind through the pines. Fascinating.
This New Scientist Discovery Tour has been excellent. The focus on astronomy and vulcanology has been enjoyable. The two tour guides have been brilliant, and the group itself has gelled really well. It’s been a lot of fun.
The four hour flight back to Gatwick goes without incident. I’m not heading home just yet though ……
