I awoke to a beautiful day, so walked up the Avenue to St Nicholas church, which to my surprise was open - there were people setting things out for the Christmas tree festival. It all looked very festive.
I then walked back down to the High Street and had a latte and tea cake at Cinnebar, before calling in at the local bakery for some provisions. I asked the lady serving me what the rather spectacular tattoo on her arm was about. It all related to the Mexican day of the dead, her mum had died earlier in the year and some of her ashes had been integrated into the tattoo. Blimey.
Then to dad’s house for my appointment with the engineer from Affinity Water anytime between 12 and 4pm. T called in for a chat over a cup of tea and a mince pie, good to catch up. The engineer arrived in good time. There are no leaks, which is a good thing, so the massive water use (the bill is for £870 for a 6 month period) has another cause. I think I know what that might be ……
