Passing Ships In The Daytime, Wrotham Village
Today we took a short hop out to frequent a new imbibment supplying establishment (also known as a pub) - The Mote at Wrotham Heath - as it had recently been reviewed favourably by a columnist called the Secret Drinker (think secret shopper but for licensed premises) in our local paper, The Kent Messenger. It has recently undergone an extensive renovation and whilst it was perfectly pleasant it didn't really really float our boat, which is slightly ironic taking into account the title of today's blip!
My brother then remembered that although Wrotham is more well known for being an interchange for the M26 and M20 motorways and the adjacent A20 that is actually Wrotham Heath and there is a separate Wrotham village so we decided to take a short detour there before heading home.
What a lovely little village it is too with only three or four main streets which still manage to cram in a local shop, two pubs, an hotel, two hairdressers and a rather magnificent church (but no current post office to replace the older version shown in our main image) and despite it being close to busy roads roads you couldn't hear them so it felt really peaceful and that it was much further out into the countryside than it actually is.
We had a great stroll around the village, an informative chat with a local and managed to capture our images which both happened to include ships (mine is the extra and my brother's is the main image). We'll definitely be back - especially to try out those pubs! :-)
