Advent peace and preparation

The Feast Day of Saint Francis Xavier. Born 1506 in Navarre, Spain. Died 1552 in Sancian (Sangchwan) , China.
St. Francis Xavier yearned to save souls from eternal damnation. He had the holy gift of missionary zeal. He was devoted to God as an energetic priest. He is known as the Apostle to the Indies and Japan.
He formed the Jesuits with fellow Spaniard St Ignatius of Loyola. He is patron of several countries including India, Pakistan, The Philippines, and Japan.

This morning here in Rishton started very cold and frosty. It was 2c but felt like minus one. There were thin pieces of ice in the bird bath. I took a kettle of hot water and broke up the ice. The starlings and pigeons have been eating heartily and the cats have enjoyed watching them.
I wrapped up well and went out to collect a newsletter from the Parish Church and then walked to Cut Wood to take some photos of the Winter trees. I saw several squirrels scurrying about in the woodland. I walked to the canal but there wasn't much happening, only a few mallards swimming about together in the very cold canal water.

I bought two books of Christmas 2nd class stamps from the Post Office and there are eight stamps in each little book. It cost £13.60. What has life come to? Enough said.

I listened to online Holy Mass from St Marie's in Sheffield and said the Rosary for the holy souls, my family, friends and peace.

Then it was time for my lunch.

Later I am going to write the remaining Christmas cards and post them.

Enjoy your Tuesday and thank you for visiting my site blip friends.
