Steam Dreams

York. After a happy couple of hours by the Minster, mostly being entertained by City buskers - the guy playing the violin whilst manipulating a grotesque puppet was eminently blippable - we finished our day at the National Railway Museum.

The engines may be super-shiny not realistic-grimy but it is still a magical place. We did get grimy on our ride behind Rocket but the display of A4 locos was very special, Mallard the most famous for its 126 mph record 75 years ago. So much for the 'Inter City 125' concept of the 1970's! No 4464 is Bittern which made a 90mph run earlier this year and had been on a London-York run yesterday ..... Steaming On.

Aside: Was Rev W Awdry have a laugh when he named one of his storybook engines 'Duck'? :-)
