Black Swans Dipping, The Friars, Aylesford

We did have plans today but unfortunately my brother badly turned his ankle yesterday and was in quite a bit of pain so we just popped (well he hobbled) out for a lunchtime pint instead. It did mean, however, that I had more time to make one of my one-off soups. All I do is look in the cupboards and fridge, and then see what spices and herbs I have left and try to come up with something. Today's was butter bean, ham hock, spinach and tomato soup, enhanced with some Mexican spice and chilli flakes. I even made some wholemeal flatbreads (with rosemary and garlic) to go with them!
On the way back from our lunchtime drink we decided on a quick detour to The Friars as the light was so lovely and that's when I saw these beautiful black swans dipping their heads in and out of the water. Luckily, I managed to get this one shot as both emerged from the depths of the duck pond. Please view large!
