Busy at Craignure Pier
It was still blowing a hoolie today; I’m not sure if this is the tail end of Bert or just a windy winter’s day. The morning passed quickly as I dealt with a variety of small tasks before heading off to Craignure with neighbour J to attend the AGM of Mull and Iona Community Trust (MICT). On the way we noticed a couple of ships that were sheltering from the worst of the wind, one being the Pharos, a Northern Lighthouse Board tender which services over 200 automatic lighthouses and buoys around Scottish waters.
The meeting in Craignure was very informative and showed what a successful organisation MICT is, working at improving the quality of life for island residents.
Before we left Craignure I snapped this blip of the busy pier with our CalMac ferry, the Loch Frisa, and the green boat, the Ocean Aquila, which is some kind of fish carrier.
After a weekend of weather-related disruptions with the ferry, I found out this evening that we will probably have further disruptions because of a technical issue with the linkspan which connects the pier to the ferry.
Today demonstrated perfectly the pluses and minuses of island life.
