Bath

We spent today in Bath, it’s been a very lovely day. Neither of us had been here before, but we are keen to go again.

We had planned to take the train to Bath, but ended up driving, it wasn’t very far, and using the park and ride facilities. The first thing we noticed were the hills. We got off the bus in the city centre and wandered. We had I instructions to check out the Rec, Bath’s rugby ground, and we were both surprised at how central it is.

We stopped for lunch in a wee cafe, then continued our wandering, taking in The Circus and Royal Crescent. We spent alot if time just admiring the architecture, but if course commented that we have alot of the same in Edinburgh, which we see everyday, and take for granted. I liked the warmth of the Bath stone, which is not as austere as that used in Edinburgh.

We had passed the cricket ground in the morning, where there was a game underway. TT (a cricket fan), suggested we go back and watch some cricket, while enjoying a wee refreshment, which we did. I mainly read my book, though the seating was very uncomfortable, so I had to get up and go for a wander from time to time. We also had to duck quickly when a ball came in our direction.

We eventually left the cricket, and wandered back into the city centre. We went to Wagamama for tea, as we knew we would be in and out quickly, and then caught the bus back to the park and ride, before driving back to our hotel. The end of a lovely day, but not before a check in with TT’s mum, and with BB to get an update on his knees!
