Black and White Giant Fly

Found this fly on a window sill.
It was a big fat one, and most unusual.
Google tells me it's probably a march fly, but not like any of their images.

The rear view, in extras, is worth a look.
Found an ID. 
It's the Black and White Giant Fly Formosia speciosa
